Dr. de Silva teaches courses in mass media, audience survey and research, media politics and publics, advertising, and film. His research interests are in media economics in general and film industry in particular. Prior to joining Xavier Dr. de Silva taught at Michigan State University, Boston College and Mount Union College. He was the founding head of the Audience Survey and Research Department at National Television Corporation of Sri Lanka and had collaborated in research and program development with international organizations such as UNESCO and Asia-Pacific Institute of Broadcast Development. He is a lifelong student of politics.
