Modern Irish Literature, Samuel Beckett, and Modern Drama
Graley Herren is a Professor and Chair of English at Xavier University, where he has taught since 1998. Before arriving in Cincinnati, he received his B.A. (1992) and M.A. (1994) degrees in English from the University of Tennessee, and his Ph.D. (1998) in English from Florida State University. He specializes in Modern Irish Literature, Samuel Beckett, Modern Drama, Bob Dylan, and Irish Study Abroad. He is the author of Samuel Beckett's Plays on Film and Television, as well as numerous articles on Beckett and other modern playwrights and novelists. He serves on the executive boards for the Comparative Drama Conference and he edits the annual book series Text & Presentation from McFarland Publishing. He lives in Cincinnati with his wife Cathy and their son Dylan. In 2010 he was named as Xavier’s Bishop Fenwick Teacher of the Year, and in 2017 he received the Roger A. Fortin Award for Outstanding Teaching and Scholarship in the Humanities.
