Biography:

Thomas J. Ruthemeyer, BBA, MBA, CPA is clinical professor in the Graduate Program for Health Services Administration at Xavier University. He retired in 2001 after a 28 year career in the health care industry. His last position was Executive Vice President of Mercy Health Partners in Cincinnati. During that career he was instrumental in planning and completion of several major hospital expansion projects (Clermont Mercy and Mercy Anderson) and merging of the various financial and business functions of these two hospitals. In 1993, he began a merger of these services for all four Cincinnati-based Mercy hospitals. In 1997 the local Mercy hospitals were formally ‘regionalized’ under one CEO and he was named Regional CFO. The scope of this position was later re-configured to include broader corporate operational responsibilities and his title subsequently changed to Executive Vice President. Mr. Ruthemeyer is also currently an Adjunct Professor in the Health Informatics Program at Northern Kentucky University and is a consultant to the Office of the Associate Provost for Economic Initiatives (2006-present). He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs as well as the Ohio Society of CPAs where he has served as an Instructor in courses for the Ohio Society of CPAs Continuing Professional Education program and a member of the Health Care and Not-for-Profit sub-groups. Awards received for Community Service include: Cincinnati United Way Community Service Award, Cincinnati Chapter of the American Red cross Service Award, Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Batavia/Cincinnati, Clermont Chamber of Commerce Pacesetter Award.
