Biography:

Kelly Beischel is a nationally certified nurse educator. She earned a PhD in nursing in 2010. Her research interests include the use of human patient simulation in nursing education, test item writing, and quality and safety in nursing education. She has conducted research concerning faculty perceptions related to the use of human patient simulation in nursing education, the affect anxiety has on learning outcomes in a human patient simulation experience, the use of simulation to teach safety to beginning nursing students, and the implications of authority gradients in the healthcare system.
She has presented her research at regional, national, and international conferences. Dr. Beischel's clinical expertise is in pediatrics with an emphasis in critical care. She is nationally certified as a Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructor for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She is on the advisory board CCHMC’s Surviving the Teens, a suicide prevention educational program. Dr. Beischel is a member of the Omicron Omicron and Beta Iota Chapters of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society (STTI) and an Honorary Member of the Ohio Kappa Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta.
