Sarah J. Melcher is Chair of the Theology Department and Associate Professor of Hebrew Scriptures at Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. She holds a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Emory University and a M.Div. from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Melcher was co-editor of and contributor to This Abled Body: Rethinking Disabilities in Biblical Studies (Society of Biblical Literature, 2007) and editor of and contributor to Discerning the Body: Metaphors of the Body in the Bible (Classical Bulletin, 2014). Melcher has published numerous articles on disability in the Bible, sexual practice in the Pentateuch, Jewish/Christian dialogue, and African American biblical interpretation. Currently she is working as co-editor in collaboration with Amos Yong to establish a book series on Studies in Religion/Theology and Disability for Baylor University Press.
