Xavier @ T-Town Throwdown 9
Xavier's B.L.O.B. Ultimate Frisbee teamt traveled down south to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa for the annual T-Town Throwdown tournament. This tournament fielded the likes of large, popular schools such as Central Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and LSU. Xavier played group play on Saturday with solid wins against Mississippi (11-6) and Alabama-B (11-3) but hard-fought losses against Southern Mississippi (6-11), Vanderbilt (8-11), and Auburn (6-11). With a 2-3 record on Saturday, that placed B.L.O.B. into the consolation bracket on Sunday, opening the day with an early matchup at 8:30 against the Madison Central Slowbros, which Xavier won 15-5. The second game on Sunday, a rematch against Vanderbilt, was a very exciting game that never lost its intensity. B.L.O.B. got out to a fast start in the game and were never phased when Vanderbilt would score, always answering with a score of their own. A few key defensive stops and scores helped Xavier moved on to win the consolation bracket semi-final 15-10 against Vanderbilt, setting up another rematch against Mississippi for the consolation final. B.L.O.B. ended the tournament by defeating Ole Miss 15-8 to improve their record for the tournament to 5-3, sweeping their three games on Sunday with confident play. Overall a very good tournament for B.L.O.B. as they look to take this momentum into their next tournament in Saint Louis, Missouri at the Huck Finn Tournament.
