Urban Farm behind the Commons Apartments on Cleneay
Grab your lunch and join us to see Xavier’s Urban Farm—and learn about plans for this great new resource. The first six raised bed boxes were constructed by students in March and are ready to be admired. Over lunch with peers you’ll also be able to think about how this enterprise can fit into your teaching – of health, education, business, and arts and sciences. The more formal part of the program will take place from 12:30-1:30, and will include speakers (Abby Schafer, a student senator farm champion, and guests from Cincinnati’s food scene), as well as a facilitated conversation about incorporating the Urban Farm into your courses this coming fall and spring.
Follow the gravel path behind Smith Hall that leads behind the Commons Apartments (home of Fr. Graham) toward Flynn Hall (home of Campus Police). You’ll find the Farm along this path, behind the Commons, to the east (i.e., the direction of Montgomery). There’s a wood chip path leading to the new raised beds.
