DESCRIPTION:
Ganesh Malla, an Assistant Professor of Mathematics & Computer Science at Xavier, will introduce survival analysis, an extensively used branch of applied statistics.

Traditionally, survival analysis is a topic in a graduate level course, but undergraduates with a good background of basic statistics, probability, and calculus can understand key ideas. Some of the interesting features of the subject with some applications will be discussed. Along with some other popular estimators of the survival function, I will briefly discuss my own research on a new estimator.
