Stephen and Dolores Smith Hall: July 2011
Smith Hall is home to Xavier’s Williams College of Business, one of the nation's most dynamic and top-ranked business schools. It features the Fifth Third Trading Center, a Wall Street-style trading room with scrolling stock tickers and more state-of-the-art Bloomberg financial database terminals than any other university in the country. The 88,000 square foot building boasts 17 high-tech classrooms and centers for entrepreneurship, applied finance, business ethics and academic advising. There is also space for executives-in-residence to work closely with students and an environment for Fortune 500 companies to interact with, educate and employ our students.
The Michael J. Conaton Learning Commons: July 2011
The Conaton Learning Commons is at the heart of the James E. Hoff, S.J., Academic Quad. The Commons equips students with the latest academic and technological tools and resources. It houses centers for academic advising and career services and labs for math, writing and modern languages. The Commons features 84,000 square feet and features a digital media lab, classrooms, an auditorium and centralized location for reference and technology assistance. There is ample space for individual study and group work in a wireless setting punctuated by access to plasma screens, movable white boards, and a café.
Campus Construction Update: November 2010
Completed and opened in August 2010, the Hoff Academic Quad features 170,000 square feet of new academic facilities that will dramatically enhance Xavier’s learning environment. The Hoff Academic Quad is built around two new facilities—the Learning Commons and Smith Hall, a new building for the Williams College of Business—and supported by a new central utility plant. Taken together, these new structures will serve as a model of excellence in American higher education. Now under construction, is another tremendous facility, a new residential and dining complex set to open in August 2011 supporting a real momentum for Xavier to set a high standard for facilities in higher education.
