The Xavier University Army Reserve Officer Training Corps “All for One” Battalion hosted the 10th regional Best Ranger competition on April 18th at several Cincinnati- area locations, including Mt. Airy National Forest, Lunken Airfield and the Xavier Campus. Fifteen universities from four states sent 32 teams to participate.

The Xavier Leadership Center (XLC) offers several certificate programs that respond to the current economic crisis and qualify for Ohio economic stimulus funding. For qualified participants, 100% of the registration fee is covered by economic stimulus funds, with participant materials and examination fees often included.

Xavier University’s 171st commencement ceremonies will be held Saturday, May 16 at the University’s Cintas Center.
Separate ceremonies will be held for students receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees.
The undergraduate class of 2009 will receive their diplomas beginning at 9:00 a.m. Graduate degrees will be awarded at 2:00 p.m.

Shaye Worthman, 22, who is graduating summa cum laudefrom Xavier University with majors in psychology and Spanish and a double minor in gender and diversity studies and Latin American studies, is the 2009 Xavier University Elet Award winner. This is the award formerly known as the valedictorian. It is given to the student who maintains the highest grade point average and has an outstanding record of service.

A team of Xavier MBA students has tied for the highest worldwide overall game-to-date score for the week of Monday, April 20th in the GLO-BUS business strategy simulation. During that period, 1603 teams from 90 colleges/universities were participating in the simulation world-wide.

Xavier University’s Offices of Interfaith Community Engagement and Peace & Justice will co-sponsor “Golden Rule Week.” The event will kick-off at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 20, when students will begin to place a total of 60 yard signs around campus. Every 6th sign will have the golden rule, as presented from 1 of 10 different faith traditions.

During the heat of summer, when some students are bored with summer vacation and others dread the thought of returning to school, a group of students from around the Tri-state are hitting the books in a non-traditional setting at the Cohen Center on Xavier’s campus. From July 13-24, more than 130 students ranging from the early elementary grades to junior high, work hard to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills as part of what Xavier calls the Reading Practicum.
