Sue Schmidt, director of Xavier University’s School of Nursing, has been appointed to the Ohio Department of Health’s Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Education Advisory Group. She will be representing the Ohio Council of Deans and Directors of Baccalaureate and Higher Nursing Education Programs.

The compelling story behind the exhibit and course will also be brought to campus on Thursday March 14, during a screening and discussion of the film “Half the Sky.” The screening is free and open to all and takes place in Kennedy Lecture Hall CLC 412 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Students currently enrolled in the course will share their experiences and observations as part of the discussion.

The name "Erin Brockovich" conjures images of strength, toughness, and stubbornness. The woman Erin Brockovich is a rebel, a fighter, an advocate for truth. She will share her story, Moral Courage at the Workplace: The Power of One, as part of Xavier University’s Heroes of Ethics Series on March 25 at 6:30 p.m. in Schiff Conference Center of Xavier’s Cintas Center. A book signing follows at 8:00 p.m.

Xavier University announces a call for submissions to the annual Art at the X National Juried Exhibition: Multicultural Expressions of Faith, which will run from Aug. 23-Sept. 28, 2013. Artists are invited to submit original works of art in all media - painting, sculpture, ceramics, fibers, printmaking, photography, graphic design, and mixed-media – that reflect diverse expressions of faith and spirituality.

Richard Polt, philosophy professor and chair of Xavier University’s Department of Philosophy, is the inaugural recipient of the Roger A. Fortin Award for outstanding teaching and scholarship in the humanities. The award was established and endowed by Michael Fortin in honor of his father, Roger Fortin, professor of history and former provost and academic vice president of Xavier.
