Kam Wong has been invited to give a public lecture and conduct a seminar at Hong Kong University’s Policing Studies Forum September 2 and 3 on his upcoming books. Xavier University is participating in the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge, an initiative led by the White House and supported by the Department of Education and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). On August 3, Rabbi Abie Ingber, founding director of Xavier’s Office of Interfaith Community Engagement, traveled to the White House to help launch the challenge.

From September 6 through October 10, Xavier University will present Die Weiße Rose (White Rose) exhibit on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Gallagher Student Center. Presented by Xavier’s Office of Interfaith Community Engagement, Xavier’s German Language Program, Weisse Rose Foundation, and Lord Mayor Christian Ude of Munich, 47 black and white photographs with accompanying text introduce the story of Die Weiße Rose. The exhibit opening at 5:30pm on September 6 will be followed by a reception.

In 2009, Xavier University’s School of Nursing received a grant of almost $1.5 million from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The largest federal grant in the University’s history was awarded through HRSA’s Nurse Education, Practice and Retention (NEPR) program, which addresses the nursing shortage by funding projects that strengthen and enhance the capacity for educating and retaining nurses.
