Gillian Ahlgren, professor of theology at Xavier University, has been awarded a $40,000 grant from the Louisville Institute for a research sabbatical from September 1 – May 1, 2013. Xavier is the first Jesuit institution of higher learning to develop a veterans-only theology course, and the first Jesuit institution to send a group of veterans on a pilgrimage. Three students attended the ROTC Leader’s Training Course, a four-phase, 28-day summer leadership course at Fort Knox. It is an opportunity for them to evaluate whether the Army is for them and for the Army to evaluate their potential to become Army officers. Each of the three Cadets earned an overall Excellent at the LTC, the highest achievable. All will continue with Xavier University’s All For One Army ROTC Battalion.
