Xavier University director of photography Greg Rust has photographed life in and customs on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Lame Deer, Montana for the past five years. Rust and his daughter Erin, Xavier class of 2012, were invited initially by tribal member Dennis Limberhand. Theirs has become a friendship of mutual respect, and has resulted in a photo exhibit and video premiere at Xavier University’s Gallagher Student Center Clock Tower Lounge on Nov. 14th.

An Ohio Historical Society Marker was dedicated on October 4 at the headquarters of the Cincinnati Astronomical Society (CAS) on Zion Road in Cleves, Ohio. The marker commemorates Project Moonwatch and its members’ work during the dawn of the space age.

A delegation of students and staff from Xavier University will join nearly 1,000 others at the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice (IFTJ), a national conference about social justice grounded in the Catholic Social Teaching and the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The 15th annual Teach-In will be in Washington, DC, from November 16-18, 2012 and is sponsored by the Ignatian Solidarity Network.

Beginning Nov. 16, the Dead Sea Scrolls: Life and Faith in Ancient Times will be at Cincinnati Museum Center. It is the most comprehensive collection of ancient artifacts from Israel ever organized, including one of the largest collections of the priceless 2,000-year-old Dead Sea Scrolls displayed in North America.

Xavier University introduced the inaugural class of Cintas Institute for Business Ethics Graduate Fellows on Oct. 5.Fellows are MBA students who have expressed an interest in issues related to ethics, governance, leadership and sustainability (EAGLES) by taking elective graduate courses within these areas. MBA students who have taken, or are registered for, two courses within these areas, can apply to be Fellows.

On October 8, Michael J. Graham, S.J., president of Xavier University, signed a memorandum of understanding with Xu Hongwei, director of International Cooperation and Exchange Affairs at Zhengzhou Normal University. This agreement lays the foundation for a cooperative relationship between the two universities with particular attention to Montessori Education.

Xavier University has received a three-year Health Resources and Services Administration grant totaling $827,256 supporting development and implementation of an all-college interprofessional collaboration course and program.
