ISS Receives Award for Organization of the Year

Adrianna Zec Recognized as Advisor of the Year

04/22/09

The International Students' Society works tirelessly each year to achieve their mission to be a voice for international students, integrate students from different countries and cultures into life in the U.S., and to provide opportunities for interchanges of ideas and cultures. ISS worked towards its mission this year by providing a countless number of activities open to international and domestic students. These activities ranged from the Latin Dance, canoeing, The International Dinner and Fashion Show, International Fair, and a dialogue on culture and identity. Furthermore, executive board members all participated in a number of leadership building opportunities to help strengthen the club for both the present and the future. Club Vice-President, Xabier Aizpuru, accepted the award on behalf of ISS.

All of the great work done by ISS would not be possible without their advisor, graduate student Adrianna Zec. Adrianna goes above and beyond what is expected of an advisor and is the true backbone of the club. In addition to her graduate studies in psychology and her practicum, Adrianna devotes time each week to work with club members to ensure that activities are executed well. She is also incredibly invested the students she works with, encouraging them to grow as individuals and leaders but also to reach out to the Xavier community and beyond. Adrianna's dedication is unmatched and has contributed to the growth of the International Students' Society.
