Dr. Nancy Linenkugel, OSF, is chair of the department of health services administration and director of the graduate program in health services administration at Xavier University. She has been chair/director since 2011. Dr. Linenkugel earned her doctoral degree in management from The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, a master’s in health services administration from Xavier University, and a bachelor’s degree from Mary Manse College in Toledo. She is the first alumna of the program to serve as chair.
Currently, she teaches graduate courses in professional development. She has published one book, WISDOM FROM MERGERS: VOICES OF EXPERIENCE based on her doctoral dissertation.
Prior to coming to Xavier, she served as President of Chatfield College in St. Martin/Cincinnati OH for six years, President and CEO of the Providence Health System and Providence Hospital in Sandusky OH for 15 years, vice president of St. John Medical Center in Steubenville OH for five years, and was a junior high teacher for seven years in her early ministry. She has been a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, OH since 1968 and has served on the elected Leadership Team of her order for a four-year term.
Dr. Linenkugel is a Life Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and has served on the ACHE national Board of Governors. She has received numerous awards, including being inducted into the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame, the ATHENA Award, was named an “Up and Comer” by MODERN HEALTHCARE Magazine in 1990, and also received both of the Xavier HSA Awards – Preceptor of the Year and Distinguished Alumna Award.
