Biography:
Dr. Tylon Crook, a national certified counselor, is an assistant professor in the Department of Counseling at Xavier University. He earned his doctorate at Auburn University in Counselor Education and Supervision. Dr. Crook holds a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education with an emphasis in school and community counseling. He has experience both as a professional school counselor and community counselor. Dr. Crook’s past experiences include working as a professional school counselor in the Atlanta, GA metro area, a children’s therapist with East Alabama Mental Health in Phenix City, Alabama, a children and family counselor with Tarver Psychological Consultants in Auburn, AL, and a research assistant with the Army Research Institute at Ft. Benning, GA. He is also a veteran of the USAF, where he gained experience working with military personnel and their families as a Chaplain’s Assistant and Fire/Crash rescueman. Dr. Crook’s interests and research areas include working with families of military personnel, professional and social justice advocacy among school counselors, community engagement, and multicultural competence in counselor training.
