First Year at Xavier University:
Dr. Butch Losey is the Clinical Coordinator for the graduate counseling programs. He earned his doctorate degree from the University of Cincinnati in counselor education. He also has a Master of Arts in Agency and Community Counseling from Xavier University. He is an independently licensed clinical counselor with supervision endorsement.
Dr. Losey’s publication and research interests include bullying, suicide, crisis intervention and violence. He is the author of Bullying, Suicide and Homicide: Understanding, Assessing, and Preventing Threats to Self and Others for Victims of Bullying (Routledge, 2011). As a nationally certified Olweus Bullying Prevention trainer, Dr. Losey served as a consultant for over 40 schools with implementing this program. His current research on violence prevention is based on personal interviews that he has conducted with numerous school shooters. He has been a member of a county wide crisis response team and has worked on a suicide hotline. He is also the Executive Director of the Greater Cincinnati Counseling Association.
