Biography:

Christon Hurst did exhibition dancing as a teenager, performing native North American dances in traditional costume. Upon deciding that such dancing would not pay a living, he studied for a professional science career. His education included earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in virology and epidemiology from Baylor College of Medicine. He devoted the twenty seven years which followed that formal education to doing research on the microorganisms which cause infectious diseases acquired from water and published a number of books on various topics in microbiology. Along the way, he took up ballroom dancing as a serious hobby. Christon eventually took an early retirement and switched his profession and main hobby. He now continues doing science and still publishes microbiology books, but does so as a hobby. He does ballroom dancing professionally.
