Biography:

Dr. Daewoo Park is the Chair for the Management and Entrepreneurship Department in the Williams College of Business. Dr. Park is the College's D.J. O’Connor Professor and has taught entrepreneurship, management, strategy courses for undergraduate, MBA and executive MBA students. He was the Chair for Xavier Entrepreneurship Center from 2007 to 2009.  He built Xavier’s Undergraduate Entrepreneurship program to become #11 in the U.S. (out of 2,500 business schools) and #1 among 28 Jesuit Business Schools (including Georgetown, Boston College, Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount, etc.)

72 journal publications and 145 conference presentations:  Dr. Park has published his research in numerous entrepreneurship journals including the Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Small Business Strategy (3), and Journal of Management and Enterprise Development, and in prestigious strategy and management journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Executive, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Research (2), Management International Review, Multinational Business Review, Thunderbird International Business Review, Journal of Managerial Issues, Journal of Leadership Studies (3), Journal of Leadership & Org Development, Journal of Asian Business, Global Business and Finance Review, etc. He has served as a guest editor for several management journals (Global Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain Management, and Strategic Project Management areas). His research was supported by the U.S. Department of Education (CIBER research fellowship) and numerous research foundations.  He also received the 2010 Emerald Outstanding Paper Award (with Lifang Wu) at the 2010 Academy of Management Montreal meeting and the 2008 Citation of Excellence Award (with Hema A. Krishnan and Mike Hitt) at the 2008 Academy of Management Anaheim meeting.

Dr. Park has taught the only online, simulation-based MBA capstone strategy course among the Jesuit colleges, has managed the annual high school business simulation competitions on campus, as well as implemented the College's undergraduate simulation competitions. In 2008 and 2009, he also prepared and successfully managed the First and Second Ohio’s Only Statewide Entrepreneurship Conference and Competition (with sponsorship from Ohio State Government and several businesses).  Since 2008, he has also successfully designed and led the MBA study tour to Korea and Japan during spring break.

Dr. Park worked for IBM as a marketing representative, serving small- and medium-sized enterprises. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Texas, at Austin, and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.
