Mrs. Wolfford was born and raised in Japan until she was 19, then came to Columbus, Ohio with her family. She studied at Ohio State University and earned BA in Linguistics in 1993. While teaching Japanese at Upper Arlington and Worthington High Schools, she studied Foreign Language Education and TESOL, and earned BS from OSU in 1997 with K12 teaching certifications in both areas. She then moved to Cincinnati to teach Japanese at Academy of World Languages and Withrow High School from 1997 to 2005. She earned Master of Education from University of Cincinnati in 2004, specializing Instructional Technology. She taught at Japanese Language School of Columbus Ohio, and one in Heighland Heights in Kentucky. Since 2005, she has been teaching Japanese at Xavier University and Northern Kentucky University as an adjunct instructor.
