Dr. John Kucia

John Kucia is Administrative Vice President at Xavier University and the principal assistant to the President, Michael J. Graham, S.J.
As Administrative Vice President, Dr. Kucia is responsible for the University’s Intercollegiate Athletic Program, Human Resources, University Communications, Community Building Institute, Government Relations and the Cintas Center. Prior to assuming his duties as Vice President in 1990, Dr. Kucia served the University in many capacities; he held the position of Assistant to the President for Operations and Planning from 1988 to 1990, served as Administrative Assistant to the President from 1986 to 1988, and was Director of Alumni Relations from 1984 to 1986.
Dr. Kucia earned a bachelor’s degree in political science (1969) and a master’s degree in guidance and counseling (1972) from Xavier and a doctorate in higher education management (2004) from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his tenure at the University, Dr. Kucia served as Director for the Braxton Cann Medical Center in the Cincinnati Health Department from 1981 to 1984. Dr. Kucia also acted as Director of Treatment Alternatives for the Cincinnati Health Department from 1973 to 1981.
