Description:

People around the world know Taize, France, as the birthplace of a community of prayer, music, reconciliation, forgiveness, peace, understanding and reflection. Interfaith Taize services, which include prayers and readings from each of the faiths represented as well as music from the Taize tradition, are held in every corner of the world.

The seeds of Taize were planted in 1940, when the founder of the Taize community, Brother Roger, seeking to help those suffering amidst the atrocities of World War II, gave shelter to those in need, many being Jewish refugees.  Since that time, the city has been home to an international ecumenical community, where each summer, more than 5,000 young people from 75 countries visit to find deeper meaning and a greater sense of personal responsibility.
