Finance Self-Service Training
The Finance Administrative System houses the data for all of the financial transactions and the budget information for the University. It has two components: Finance Self-Service (FSS) and Internet Native Banner (INB). Finance Self-Service is a web based, user friendly interface that allows users to query and view department budget information.
The Controller’s Office offers two monthly training sessions on Banner Finance for those users who have access and responsibility for their departments budget(s).
- Session I
Topics include: Budgeting and Pooling Concepts, Fiscal Year/Period, FOAP, Rule Class Codes/Journal Types, and Document Numbers. This session is for new employees or those recently given budget responsibilities. Internet Native Banner (INB) is introduced. It is a requirement before attending the Finance Self Service Session II.
- Session II
Topics include: Navigation, New Terminology, Index/Account Type/Queries, Budget Queries, Parameters, Budget Query by Organizational Hierarchy, Budget Query Status by Account, Budget Quick Query, Encumbrance Query, View Document, Code Lookup, User Calculated Columns, Extracting to Excel.
