Emergencies, crimes, injuries, accidents, and severe weather can occur without warning at anytime. In the event of an emergency or crisis, Campus Police and the Emergency Response Team will activate the campus emergency plans to ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff and guests of the university. Members of the campus community are expected to follow the directions of staff and or local authorities.
Classes, functions, and events will proceed as scheduled unless the university announces otherwise. During and after an emergency, the university will communicate to the campus community through several sources, including the Xavier website, broadcast email messages, voicemail, and the local media.
The key to surviving any emergency is to remain calm and execute a specific plan of action. Members of the campus community are encouraged to familiarize themselves with The Campus Emergency Procedures brochure so that they will know what to do in an emergency or crisis situation. The ERT also released information on Emergency Procedures for Academic and Administrative Buildings.
Everyone can play an important role in making Xavier a safer environment. As a member of the campus community, you can help by being vigilant and aware of your surroundings. Call Campus Police at 745-1000 to report any suspicious activity or to request assistance.
