About the Actuarial Science Program

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Actuarial Science. In addition to traditional studies, actuarial science majors at Xavier:

  • Meet actuaries from a range of companies responsible for a variety of duties.
  • May be invited to join the national honorary society for mathematics, Pi Mu Epsilon.
  • May take advantage of internship opportunities at companies such as Towers-Watson, Liberty Mutual, WellPoint, and Ohio National Financial Services.
  • Form study cohorts to prepare for the actuarial exams.

The actuarial science program is overseen by a steering committee that includes members of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and a representative from the Department of Finance in the Williams College of Business. The committee handles advising, program assessment, and curriculum planning and adjustment.
