About the Actuarial Science Program

The Department of Mathematics offers the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Actuarial Science. In addition to traditional studies, actuarial science majors at Xavier:

  • Meet actuaries from a range of companies responsible for a variety of duties.
  • May be invited to join the national honorary society for mathematics, Pi Mu Epsilon.
  • May take advantage of internship opportunities at companies such as Towers-Watson, Liberty Mutual, WellPoint, and Ohio National Financial Services.
  • Form study cohorts to prepare for the actuarial exams.

The actuarial science program is overseen by a steering committee that includes members of the Department of Mathematics and a representative from the Department of Finance in the Williams College of Business. The committee handles advising, program assessment, and curriculum planning and adjustment.
