Gene Carmichael, S.J.
Interim Vice President for Mission & Identity
Gene Carmichael, S.J. is Xavier’s Interim Vice President for Mission and Identity. Carmichael formulates programs to develop Xavier’s Catholic and Jesuit identity for students, faculty, administration, staff, trustees and alumni.
Fr. Carmichael has worked in many areas at Xavier during his over 25-year tenure. He has served as the acting vice president for Student Development, associate vice president for mission and ministry and the director and mentor for the service fellows program. In the past, he has also worked in campus ministry, was associate dean of student development, and served as assistant director and staff counselor in the Health and Wellness Center.
