Mission
The Mission of the Department of Occupational Therapy is to compliment the Mission of Xavier University by providing an educational experience resulting in competent, caring, and ethical occupational therapy practitioners. Graduates will value service provision to meet the occupational needs of society, promote holistic well-being, and sensitivity to diversity. This is accomplished through faculty dedication to excellence in education and scholarship and a commitment of service to the Department, University, community, and profession of occupational therapy. We promote students’ personal and professional growth and development of mind, body, and spirit to produce occupational therapists who are creative, critical thinkers. This prepares graduates to become change agents and advocates via direct service (practitioner), consultation (educator), policy development (manager), and systematic critical inquiry (researcher). Finally, it is our Mission that graduates are committed to client-centered best practice, lifelong learning, and dedicated to promoting occupational justice.
